Rock up outside your kids’ school to collect your offspring and you’ll probably hear the dads chatting about the NFL standings while they’re waiting for their son(s) or daughter(s) to come out of class. Hold a family barbecue and you’ll probably hear family members or relatives in a corner of the garden or another chatting about what’s going on in the league. Or even in the bleachers at a local sports event the chances are you’ll end up discussing the NFL with some of the other families in the crowd.
That’s because NFL football is such a popular sport amongst families. Some are NFL crazy and will catch all the games together, either in front of the TV or, if they have the money, live. So when it’s time to book a vacation, where do you take a family absolutely obsessed with the NFL?
Inglewood, Los Angeles County
Inglewood, in Los Angeles, California is a perfect place to head out to for NFL lovers. That’s because LA itself boasts two NFL teams: the LA Rams, in the NFC West Division, and the LA Chargers, in the AFC West. The SoFi Stadium hosts the home games of both teams, so whether you’re a fan of one or the other you’re in luck because you can take a tour of the stadium. Or you could cheer either on at a live game and see Justin Herberts, star quarterback for the chargers, or Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Rams, in the flesh.
If you’re staying in Inglewood, you’re only around 30 minutes away from Universal Studios, which is an amazing day out. Disneyland is just 40 minutes away by car. You could also catch the Hop On Hop Off tour bus and cram in a variety of LA attractions in a short space of time.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the home of the six-times Super Bowl winners the Pittsburgh Steelers. A passion for NFL burns in the hearts of the Pennsylvanians, so why not head out to the Acrisure Stadium, the team’s home ground, and take a tour or catch a game to soak up some of that atmosphere? Running back Najee Harris has become an invaluable player to the team and will be running behind the best offensive line he’s ever played with, transforming the Steelers into an even more formidable force.
Elsewhere in the city, you and the family can visit the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, which offers lots of innovative experiences in tech, learning and art for children. You can enjoy thrills and spills at the Kennywood Amusement Park, home to the unique Noah’s Ark attraction. Animal lovers? Visit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, which shelters more than 4,000 animals, or the National Aviary, where there are more than 500 birds.
East Rutherford, New Jersey
East Rutherford is the location of the New York Giants’ and New York Jets’ home stadium, the MetLife Stadium, allowing you to kill two NFL birds with one stone. A holiday here during regular season is your chance to catch NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers in the flesh for the Jets or to see if the Giants can improve upon last season.
While in East Rutherford, you can visit the American Dream, a retail park and entertainment center which spoils you with things to do. There you’ll find a water park, an indoor theme park (the massive Nickelodeon World indoor theme park) and luxury ski slopes. Also in the vicinity is the Legoland Discovery Center, where your kids’ imaginations can run riot, thanks to the play areas, 4D cinema and interactive ride.
Miami, Florida
Miami, in the sun-kissed state of Florida, is the home of two-times Super Bowl winners the Miami Dolphins. The team’s home stadium, the Hard Rock Stadium, is in the city’s Miami Gardens suburb and, in 2026, will not just host the Dolphins’ home games, but also FIFA World Cup 2026 soccer matches. In the first game of the NFL regular season, the Dolphins will face off against state rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars. Why not grab a ticket and experience the excitement of a match between local sides?
Miami is a superb location for families and packed with things to do. At the Miami Zoological Foundation, kids can hold the primates and interactive with the wildlife. In the warmer months, you and the kids can all cool down at one of the several water parks in Miami, or soak up the sun at South Beach or explore the wider South Beach neighborhood. The Miami Theater Center is also an excellent entertainment resource and offers regular child-friendly performances.
The cities above provide plenty for families to do as well as to indulge in their passion for the NFL. If none of these appeal to you, you may wish to try Seattle, Washington, and visit the Lumen Field stadium, home of the Seattle Seahawks; or explore wider Florida state, where the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also play.
